Nothing says December like gingerbread, and Conner Prairie is once again hosting a celebration of gingerbread construction like no other. Every year, amatuers and professionals alike concoct amazing displays.
The gingerbread houses range from the traditional houses to structures such as churches, campground scenes, and this year, a roller coaster.
The Gingerbread Village will be on display the entire month of December. In addition to the village, special winter-themed activities will be happening in the science lab. Construct your own winter cabin with logs and planks, create gingerbread puppets and much more!
Awesome Advice: Be sure to tell young children that you won’t be eating any of the concoctions on display!
Montessori Moment: Be sure to plan time to play in Discovery Station, where children can enjoy a play area just their size.

Disclosure: I was invited to be one of the judges for the 2011 Gingerbread Village, which is how I got the low-down in time to post this for opening day! (If they ever ask you to judge, say yes- it’s a big task, but it’s loads of fun!)
