The Polar Express at the IMAX: Free Admission for Kids in PJs

It’s almost Christmas time in the city, and the IMAX at the Indiana State Museum is ready to celebrate! The Polar Express has been a favorite holiday movie since its release nearly a decade ago. The movie was one of the first commercial films to be adapted to fit the IMAX screen.

This holiday season, the IMAX will present the Polar Express throughout the month of December, with a special twist every Friday and Saturday night. Children wearing pajamas will receive free admission to the show with a paying adult. Hot chocolate and Christmas cookies will be available for purchase at the concession stand.

The movie is presented in 3D, and although I’d seen the movie before, watching it in 3D was an experience. It was fun watching my preschooler reach for the train as it appeared to come toward us, and the twisty turning tracks felt even more like a roller coaster on the big screen.

Awesome Advice: Be sure to wear shoe or hard-soled slippers- it’s still a movie theater!

Montessori Moment: Kids will love being in charge of their own 3-D glasses. Be sure they place them in the receptacle on the way out!

Admission:  Adults $13  Children $11 (children in pajamas during the 7pm show on Fridays and Saturdays are free)
Hours: see website for showtimes @IMAXIndy
650 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204

Disclosure: I attended a free preview party with my family, complete with kids in adorable pajamas. The opinions are completely my own.
