Wicked Workshop Haunted House

The witches have taken over and set up their factory right inside the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis!

This year, the Museum Guild invites you to tour the Wicked Workshop — don your hard hat and explore the factory, from the Witchkins’ entrance to the packing room.

Don’t forget to take a break and visit the employee’s lounge. You can checkout the creepiest vending machine ever, featuring snacks like Snoritos, Slum Chips, and Dork peppermint patties.

For children who are young or easily frightened, the museum offers “Friendly Hours” for tours with the lights on. Instead of “scarers,” kids will find trick-or-treat stops along the way. Friendly Hour visitors can also look for thematic trivia and play I Spy. This year, the game has gone 3D — find a stuffed Witchkin (the witches’ very own minions) in every room of the Haunted House.

It’s one of the small details that blow my mind every year. The haunted house is a planned and created by 10 women from the Museum Guild. It features a new theme each year and is one of the top 10 Haunted Houses in the country.

You can even join the head witches for a Friendly Feast, which includes a meal, Halloween entertainment in Lilly Theater and a trip through the Haunted House. I’m taking my Girl Scout troop there next weekend. Scouts who visit in uniform will receive a free Wicked Workshop patch.

The museum also offers late-night adventures for older Scouts who love to be scared. The event includes dinner, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Haunted House, a planetarium show, and more. It sounds wicked fun!

I had a little fun of my own, after our own behind-the-scenes tour. Check out our scary movie trailer, for a fun sneak peak of Wicked Workshop, then get your tickets before it’s too late!

Awesome Advice: Take note of special exits in each room of the Haunted House—those who are too frightened to continue will be escorted to safety.

I attended a media tour of Wicked Workshop, at the invitation of the Children’s Museum. However, I was neither compensated nor obligated to write this post. All opinions are, as always, 100% mine.
