3 Reasons to Visit the Children’s Museum This Summer (Plus a Giveaway!)

The Children’s Museum is one of my all-time family fun spots in Indy. It’s in a bit of a lull right now — several exhibits have closed in preparation for Avatar, the new Playscape, and the 50th anniversary of the Haunted House. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great time to visit!

Here are my top 3 reasons to visit the Children’s Museum this summer:

Permanent Exhibits: We visit the Children’s Museum regularly but often end up skipping our favorites like the Dinosphere, trains, and games in an effort to squeeze in all the temporary fun before we miss out. Now is the perfect time to spend a day at the Children’s Museum, enjoying all of your favorite permanent exhibits.

Air-conditioning: When it’s too hot to play outside, the cool air at the children’s museum is absolutely perfect! The water play in Science Works and Playscape (coming soon!) are refreshing in the middle of a hot, Indiana summer. It’s also a great place to go on a rainy day, when the kids still need a chance to run and play.

Free Wifi: You guys, with 4 kids at home while I still need to work, I love anything with free wifi. My kids can spend hours in Science Works without ever getting bored. I have to drag them out at the end of a visit every time. So, I’m not afraid to be that mom on her laptop and iPhone while they are far too enchanted with the Rube Goldberg Machine to distract me from my work.

Do I have you convinced to visit the Children’s Museum this summer? We’re giving away a family 4-pack of tickets! 1. We will be visiting Indy on the 24th (lily has some tests at riley hospital) and have been talking about taking the kids to the museum. The exhibit I’d love to take the kids to is Dinosphere….I know they’d love it! My 6yo loves dinosaurs!

  2. My son loves the water area and the digging area that is nearby. Excited for the new playscape to open up so he can play there.

  3. We love the carousel and play houses…ice cream shop, mini house, and tree house. My kids will play there for hours!

  4. I have to confess that it has been about 2 years since we’ve gone to the museum. The crowds on weekends are just too insane. But if I won tickets… I’d take a day off work to take my kids!!

  5. For some reason, the glass sculpture is my favorite. It dominates the area, and the colors are so transfixing.

  6. I haven’t been in years but would love to take my grandson. He would love the dinos!

  7. I Like Family Fun in the City and The Children’s Museum on Facebook (Aimee Archer Wachman )

  8. It’s been many year since we have been to the children’s museum, but we love to watch the clock and visit the trains! Always a favorite. 🙂

  9. I’m a huge Transformers fan so my favorite part is the giant BumbleBee right when you walk in and my son loves that too.
