Conner Prairie Interactive History Park

Conner Prairie Interactive History Park is the only Smithsonian Museum Institution affiliate in the state of Indiana. Interactive doesn’t really do the park justice- when you step onto the grounds of Conner Prairie, you are transported through time.

The indoor environment is open year round, and includes the ever-popular Discovery Station. Discovery Station is a hands-on children’s area that encourages dramatic play, teaches history through activity, and is a place that children won’t want to leave. The outdoor environment includes historical buildings, farm animals, a hot air balloon exhibit, and new for 2011, the 1863 Civil War exhibit, Raid on Indiana.

The Mom says: “Conner Prairie is unique because I get to say, ‘Do touch!’ all day long when we visit. Combining history and nature is a win for our family.”

Awesome Advice: Wear sturdy shoes- there was no pavement in 1863, and there’s not much at Conner Prairie either!
