The Soliders and Sailors Monument

In the center of the Circle City is the probably the most recognizable monument in the city- the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Throughout the year fundraisers are held on its cobblestone streets, and the residents sit on it’s steps, enjoying the weather and the city. There’s more to the monument that meets the eye. Families can climb to the top of the monument AND descend below street level.330 Steps Up is an observatory, where you have a good view of the city, including the roof tops of surrounding buildings (be on the look out for pools and patios). In the basement of the monument is the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum, where you can muster in and learn about the lives of Hoosiers on the front lines and on the homefront.

This Mom says: “The Soldiers and Sailors Monument is a fantastic free place for everyone to explore.”
